Luke De Cresce is a New Jersey-raised, Washington, DC-based journalist with a passion for viewing cultural critique through the lens of the arts. Having grown up in a quiet, outer-ring suburb just off the Garden State Parkway, Luke spent many of his childhood days learning about the world from afar, reading countless books and news articles even from a young age.
Luke graduated with a double major in Foreign Affairs and Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Virginia, where he wrote his capstone paper interpreting the Seyahatname, a travelogue written by Ottoman-era Turkish courtier Evliya Çelebi. Luke uses his experience in studying the world around him to understand cultural barriers and political trends, making his work as inclusive, understanding, and accessible as possible for the greatest number of people. Luke spends the bulk of his non-journalistic time writing, recording, and performing music as a guitarist in an indie rock band, and he maintains a passion for reading and writing comic books, giving him a special insight into the arts world.
Alongside his graduate studies in American Journalism at New York University, Luke aims to combine his research experience, his unique access to the arts, and his insatiable need to understand the world around him to produce written work that merges these passions.
